The Christian Science Monitor TV series features Hermitage Museum
You are invited to watch a documentary produced by The Christian Science Publishing Society being shown on public television in the United States this autumn.
When The Monitor Channel ceased operation in April of 1992, all television activity (with the exception of the video Weekly Bible Lesson) was curtailed. However, a documentary on The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, was substantially finished when television operations ended. The museum, which houses one of the world's great collections of art, has never been shown in such complete detail.
The Hermitage: A Russian Odyssey is an outstanding production, a vivid example of what Monitor journalism can be in the medium of video. It consists of three one-hour programs hosted by Monitor Radio correspondent Rod MacLeish. Just as the Monitor has for many years provided in-depth coverage of the arts, this series traces 300 years of Russian history using the glorious art of The Hermitage Museum as a backdrop. More than one hundred public broadcasting stations across the United States have signed up to premiere the series the week of September 11. Your local station's schedule will have details. It is also quite likely that there will be international showings of this program in 1995.
