Selfless desire
See John 13:14; Retrospection and Introspection by Mrs. Eddy, 70:18.
It is not glory's gold I seek.
My earnest, heartfelt prayer:
Dear Father, keep me meek.
Let me in my brother's work rejoice!
Let humble service be my choice.
Another's niche I would not seek.
Let me, indeed, but wash his feet.
I am unique in God's own way.
I cannot from His purpose stray.
To glorify God is my heart's intent.
To serve Him is my prayer.
My work: let it be God-sent!
Let Love be the catalyst of all my labor;
Christ be the bond between me and my neighbor.
Another's niche I could not seek.
It is my privilege to wash his feet.
Grateful to serve God in this special way,
I will not from this purpose stray.
