Gold medal for Monitor Radio
At a ceremony in New York City recently, the International Radio Festival of New York awarded Monitor Radio's two-hour special "War in the Balkans, Which Way Out?" the gold medal for "Best News Special of 1993." A number of other national and international broadcasters were in contention for the gold, including NBC Radio, the BBC, and Deutsche Welle.
After the ceremony, a member of the judging panel told Monitor Radio's representative that the judges had listened to the entire two hours because they were so impressed by the ambitiousness of the program and the high technical and journalistic standards achieved.
