When I was very young, my father left my mother, brother, sister, and me, destitute. Shortly after that, my grandmother, who was a dedicated Christian Scientist, came to care for us. From that time I developed a love for Christian Science that has never left me. Sunday School teachers led me into God's truth through the study of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. With no father at my home, these teachers, without knowing it, became spiritual mentors; their example, and my grandmother's inspired encouragement, caused me to seek spiritual motivation and direction in my daily activities.

My later adolescent years were happy ones, even though we all struggled through the depression years and World War II. Our family relied on God in finding financial supply, housing, loving personal relations, educational opportunities, and career direction.

I cannot tell of all the healings I have had, but a short list includes overcoming a severe case of poison oak, concussion from a diving incident, long-standing hearing loss, chronic nosebleeds, and back pain.
