When my first husband passed on suddenly, leaving me with...
When my first husband passed on suddenly, leaving me with three very young daughters, I realized that I had to come to grips with myself if we were to survive. I cherished my Christian Science upbringing, but up to that time I had not practiced and studied Christian Science consistently.
The children experienced many quick healings as they were growing up, and God was our constant guide. I was able to take class instruction, and this certainly was a blessing to the whole family.
One healing represents a significant milestone in my spiritual growth. Several years ago I began experiencing severe anxiety attacks. They became so disturbing that there was only one place I felt secure, and that was church. Since we have church services only on Sundays and Wednesdays, that left most of the week in which I felt I was floundering. A devoted Christian Science practitioner was always available in the darkest hours; sometimes I would call this dear woman when I was at work, so overcome by fear that I had tried to squeeze myself into a corner for protection. Also at times I had recurring thoughts of suicide.
