EXCHANGES BETWEEN CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS AND THEIR NEIGHBORS
Some questions answered ...
The Christian Science Committees on Publication, which are spread throughout the world, regularly respond to invitations from groups of people in local communities to talk to them about Christian Science. These are not formal lectures, but an exchange of ideas designed to help others better understand what we are all about. Usually these talks end with a period for questions and answers about Christian Science.
Here are some of the questions posed by audiences in recent months, together with the spontaneous answers given by speakers who are Christian Scientists.
Is Christian Science faith healing? Christian Science is often confused with faith healing. While faith is certainly important, it takes a great deal more than faith in a person or in a Bible verse to heal. Faith healing lacks the substance of spiritual understanding. Christian Science healing, in contrast, rests on understanding clearly one's spiritual relation to God as His child.
