Is there a semi-spiritual life?

A middle ground, or halfway point, might be a desirable place to be in certain cases. Just ask any school student which he prefers, to be halfway through a homework assignment or to have not yet started it!

With some things, however, there simply can be no middle ground. You can't be partly honest, or balance a checkbook by correcting only half the errors. It's all or nothing.

When it comes to living the truth of Christian Science, the same rule applies. Science helps us see that since the one and only creator is Spirit, God, the basis for all existence is totally spiritual, not material. The Discoverer of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, understood that the allness of Spirit, the one infinite Mind, precludes anything unlike Him, precludes any kind of semi-spiritual, semi-material state of being. In her book Science and Health she writes: "One only of the following statements can be true: (I) that everything is matter; (2) that everything is Mind" (p. 270).
