Recently a friend learned that both of her daughters would be leaving home; one was getting married and the other would be attending a distant college. "Then," she said, she "quite unexpectedly had ten days alone battling with the 'empty nest syndrome.' Wouldn't my life be empty without my daughters?" But right on the heels of that question came a message from a hymn she knows: "My Father has my treasure,/ And He will walk with me" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 148). This gave her a wonderful sense that God was working out His purpose and that all was well.
Though this was a tremendous change for her, she said, "Just knowing that God is very capable of taking care of my daughters and me, has given me newfound confidence. It has been a very fulfilling, active, growing, unifying year."
Whether your home is changing, whether it's your job, a relationship, your goals, or anything else important to you, this Sentinel encourages you to look to God's care and guidance. Even if the world is in a state of constant flux, God gives you an unchanging spiritual standpoint from which to deal with it.
