When I was in my mid-twenties, my sister began having children. I loved sharing in the mothering of her three daughters and developed special relationships with each of them. Still, being childless myself, I never imagined I would be concerned with a teenager out of control!
It was only after much prayer that I had been able to leave those children in pursuit of opportunities on the West Coast, recognizing my presence wasn't essential to their well-being. I was reassured by a friend who told me I would be there if they needed me; no matter where I was, I was always close enough to pray.
How many times had I relied on the fact that divine Love is ever present? As Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health, "Spiritual man is the image or idea of God, an idea which cannot be lost nor separated from its divine Principle" (p. 303).
