Finding Light
Leaning more upon God
Who couldn't use more light, more clarity in a time of questioning? And if we are in the middle of our own search for light, it sometimes helps to hear the experiences of others who are finding "there ariseth light in the darkness," as the Psalmist describes it. This column records experiences that show something of the wide range of seekers and the way in which the light of Christ, Truth, restores, redirects, and regenerates lives.
In my state, a longtime Congressional incumbent was defeated in a surprise upset primary vote. All the political observers and opinion polls had predicted an easy reelection. While it was not the first time conventional wisdom proved unreliable, it does serve as a current reminder of the pitfalls inherent in human reasoning.
Sometimes all the carefully weighed pros and cons miss the bigger picture and ignore God's guidance in determining our future. What might seem right to human thought one day is overtaken by events and proved to be a mistake.
