INSIDE: LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE

Ads virtually blitz us with aggressive and alluring suggestions about how we should look, what we should own, what our lifestyle should be in the nineties. If you want to be "with-it" (or even if you don't), escaping the barrage and figuring out your own identity can be hard. But that's what this week's Sentinel gives us some strong help with—finding the real person we want to be—the God-given identity that really is who we are. Even if popular society doesn't list spirituality as one of its most sought-after goals, people are beginning to find that it—not superficial images—is what they really want.

On page 6 a young professional tells of how "the good life" he'd attained had left him empty and wanting something lasting. Christian Science gave him a whole new perspective on what love and success mean. Other articles and features challenge the popular notion that man's identity, beauty, and strength are physical. They bring original insights and firsthand experiences, which illustrate how powerfully transforming and healing an understanding of ourselves as God's image, made in the likeness of Spirit, can be.

Spiritual transformation. That may sound like a new idea, but it's really what Christ Jesus was teaching and demonstrating. The good news is, more people today are discovering the sheer practicality of it.
