As I strive to magnify the Lord in all thought and action...

As I strive to magnify the Lord in all thought and action, I realize that a written testimony is an important way to bear witness to the power of the living God in my life.

I am a third-generation Christian Scientist and attended a Christian Science Sunday School until I was about sixteen. Then I thought that I needed to leave Science behind to find out more about the world. I quit going to Sunday School and started to visit churches of other denominations. For the next sixteen years, I struggled in many ways to make sense out of my life. I had found no substitute for Christian Science, and yet I couldn't seem to commit to Science either. Still, I found that every time I turned, in a dire situation, to a statement of Truth in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, my prayers were answered. This always gave me hope.

As I continued on in life, I began to want to be more useful and helpful to others. I completed college and afterward joined the Peace Corps. It was at this time that one of my sisters subscribed to The Christian Science Monitor for me. And it was also at this time, many miles from home and family, that I experienced a complete healing of an eyesight problem without any assistance but the Christ, Truth, I'd found in Christian Science.
