Several years ago I developed lack of control in a kidney function. Although I prayed about the situation, there seemed to be no improvement.
One day, while I was having a particularly difficult time, I resolved to pray more diligently, asking God to please show me what I needed to know. Later that afternoon I lay down to rest, putting on a cassette tape of hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal (published by The Christian Science Publishing Society). As I listened to receive the inspiring message, I heard the words "free from envy, scorn, and pride." The complete verse of the hymn reads:
