Seven years ago when our younger daughter was three years old, we noticed a lump on one of her knees. She was a very active little girl and generally was not a complainer, but the condition curtailed her physical activity and she did mention discomfort and tenderness as a result of the difficulty. I was very concerned.

Our family had always chosen, and found healing through, Christian Science treatment. My husband and I were motivated by love for our precious daughter and a desire for a complete solution for this difficulty when we chose to pray earnestly for a complete healing. We prayed to see more clearly that in reality our daughter is not a mortal, subject to incapacity, disfigurement, and disease, because man's native identity is the spiritual reflection of God.

As I prayed and studied the Bible, I was drawn to several Bible passages that include the word abiding. I thought of our daughter as truly abiding in God. I had always thought abide meant to dwell or to live, but I looked it up and found that it means to remain or to stay. I realized that in reality our daughter could never leave the presence of God, nor could she ever move away from or live apart from her perfect spiritual nature. I knew her true Father-Mother God was keeping her safe forever.
