When
a neighborhood is a place where neighbors value one another, there's a sense of caring, mutual support.
About our cover—To revitalize and rebuild neighborhoods we need to draw on many resources. The most abundant and powerful of these is Christly love.
When tragic news stirred up anger and fear in his community, this writer felt a call to battle. The weapons he used were love, spiritual authority, and an understanding of God's goodness.
Simply conforming to what "everybody's doing" won't really help us or our neighbors. A stand for God's law and God's love brings the freedom and progress we're looking for.
Struggling to overcome shortcomings and mistakes can seem fruitless effort—until we yield to what God reveals of our true nature as His expression.

The Bible shows us the sheltering presence of divine Love. And it shows us all creation embraced in that Love.
If we have faced what seems a great loss, we may feel we just can't rise up again. But God's love stirs us to new life and purposeful action.
Courage, love, and a priceless feeling of the wideness of God's family make rebuilding a community more than hard work. Such rebuilding becomes an experience of divine grace.

As on many other occasions when people have been left homeless through war or natural disaster, The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, is providing relief assistance in the Oakland, California, area in close cooperation with and through local Churches of Christ, Scientist.
Are we willing to bring healing to the troubled neighborhoods in our cities? We can start by recognizing that true brotherhood begins with the fact that we all have one Father, even God.
