Through the night, to the day
Night can be a metaphor for struggle and suffering. How long and how dark it can seem when we're looking for relief and some clear sign of the triumph of our hopes and prayers for our families, and for the world.
The Bible's predominant theme is light. That isn't surprising. Light is what we need the most. And this light is so much more than the sunlight that is its symbol. We yearn to "see the light"—truly to see and understand who we are, why we are. We seem intuitively to know that darkness couldn't possibly define us.
The Bible tells us that we are "the children of light" and that we can understand ourselves to be as Spirit, God, made us —in His likeness. With this understanding we can be healed, made free of sickness and trouble. When things seem dark, we should never wonder whether we have enough understanding to see the light. Actually, this understanding—this spiritual light—is being imparted by God every moment and is always available to us.
