I woke very early one morning feeling unwell, and as the morning progressed the discomfort increased until I could barely move and felt at times that I might lose consciousness. I was at home with my seven-year-old son and baby daughter. My son stayed closed to me and said with me the words of hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal.

I then decided to call a Christian Science practitioner to pray with me. The little fellow helped me to the telephone, which was in the hall, and when the practitioner answered I could only tell her that I was in great pain. Without hesitation she said that she would begin to pray straightaway. With my son's help I got back to a seat, and since I seemed unable to read I asked him to put on a recording of Science and Health, written by Mrs. Eddy. At first I could barely hear the words being read, but then suddenly it seemed as if someone were shouting in my ear, "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action." Immediately I could feel something in my stomach adjust itself, and I felt the pain recede. I telephoned the practitioner again to thank her for the immediate help and to say that all was well. The beaming smile on my little son's face showed that he, too, knew that all was well.

This to me has always been a lovely example of how divine Love communicates itself and meets the human need.
