"God is not the author of mortal discords

"God is not the author of mortal discords. Therefore we accept the conclusion that discords have only a fabulous existence, are mortal beliefs which divine Truth and Love destroy." This statement from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy has been very meaningful to me. It is the Love that we learn of in Christian Science that makes the truth of this Science self-evident, as far as I am concerned.

By now, since I began the study of Christian Science about the year 1940, I have had so many healings and benefits through prayer that I don't remember all of them. I do know I am very grateful for my healings of drinking and of a smoking habit that had lasted for forty-three years. This latter healing proved to me Christ Jesus' words: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John). Some of the healings I've had during the past few years are those of colds, sore throat, headache, and of more serious physical troubles.

One more recent healing was of a painful feeling in my legs. After a couple of days of study and prayer, I called a Christian Science practitioner, expecting and knowing I would be healed. I pondered this statement from Science and Health: "When the body is supposed to say, 'I am sick,' never plead guilty." That most uncomfortable feeling was gone the next day. There was no return of the malady. At the time, we happened to have visitors staying with us from out of town, and they were aware of the immediate results as soon as the practitioner was called.
