When I was a youngster, impetigo complicated with poison...
When I was a youngster, impetigo complicated with poison ivy appeared on my arm and spread to other parts of my body. A Christian Science practitioner was called to help me through prayer. One day I really felt divine Love's presence, and the complete healing soon followed.
I have experienced many other healings over the years since, including healings of colds, flu, cuts, and partial loss of hearing in one ear. There has been protection in car accidents and guidance in college studies and in finding suitable employment. "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This statement from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy has always been a comfort to me, as have been many passages from the Bible.
Another healing I had resulted in much spiritual growth. Unhappiness and dissatisfaction with my job, fear, and depression resulted in what appeared to be a nervous breakdown. I left my job and spent much time in prayer and study of the Bible Lessons outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly. Mrs. Eddy says in Miscellaneous Writings: "The baptism of repentance is indeed a stricken state of human consciousness, wherein mortals gain severe views of themselves; a state of mind which rends the veil that hides mental deformity. Tears flood the eyes, agony struggles, pride rebels, and a mortal seems a monster, a dark, impenetrable cloud of error; and falling on the bended knee of prayer, humble before God, he cries, 'Save, or I perish.' Thus Truth, searching the heart, neutralizes and destroys error."
