Gratitude at break of day
I love the way God shows His love
for me through all the hours of the day
yet never more so
than at the hour of early dawning when
my thought is inspired to perceive
the spiritual significance in the moving
drama of day's triumph
over the power of darkness,
symbolized first by shadows fast fading out
and stirring the enemy to take flight
then surfacing as the glorious forerunners
of victory, marshaling their forces
by hurling banners of golden light
to herald the rising sun
in its radiant fullness.
Then a curtain of blue
drops down to close the scene
leaving it serene, unshaken,
in final control.
And I open my heart to embrace
this Soul-blessed day—
its unfoldment to reflect.
