Letting the Christ heal us
The healing power of prayer continues long after we say "Amen."
Wonderful growth takes place in our lives when we seek a physical healing through prayer alone. Whether we're new or old to Christian healing, a full recovery from sickness strengthens our trust in the power of God's universal laws of good.
Although the underlying spiritual truths that bring healing are simple and can be practiced by a child, experiencing healing may not always be easy. Limited ways we think about God and ourselves tend to hold us back. Because common human perceptions do not see beyond a physical outlook on life, the grandness and power of spiritual reality are often missed and therefore not experienced.
That reality, as understood in Christian Science, shows man as something other than a fragile piece of flesh. Man is seen to be the spiritual image, or idea, of God, and God is revealed to be perfect substance, Spirit, and infinite intelligence, Mind. As we turn from a corporeal, personal identification of ourselves and make spiritual reality our point of reference, we gain a clearer sense of man's Spirit-based, indestructible health and wholeness. We come to realize that in the infinitude of God's spiritual creation, there can be no imperfection. The result of this understanding is that both sin and sickness are healed.
