When I was introduced to Christian Science, my three boys were ages seven, four, and six months. During the seven years since that time, we have had healings of sickness, fever, broken bones, effects of falls, burns, and cuts. One son was hit by a truck with such force that he landed on the hood of an oncoming car, then rolled off the vehicle and hit the pavement. He was back in school within a week, fully healed through prayer in Christian Science. Praying our way through these situations has been sustaining and has brought our family closer to God.

I'd like to share one particular instance where all that I'd learned of Christ Jesus and his teachings about God and healing had to be lived and practiced in deeper commitment to Christianity.

My son Lucas was thirteen at the time, and he was walking with friends to school, which is about four blocks down the street. At the intersection of the junior and high schools, Lucas was beaten up by a group of boys. The attack was random and appeared to be racially motivated. A parent passing by in a car drove up onto the sidewalk and began honking her horn to get the boys to let go of Lucas.
