When I was a young man of twenty-six I had a brain hemorrhage

When I was a young man of twenty-six I had a brain hemorrhage. Being a veteran, I was sent to a veterans hospital. After I had been unconscious for weeks, the doctors wanted to operate. But I regained consciousness and asked my family to send a Christian Science Wartime Minister to visit me. He brought me the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I had been given strong drugs for weeks and wanted to get away from them and rely on God only. The doctors expressed much fear about my leaving the hospital and relying on Christian Science.

I was able to stay at a home in the mountains for several months. There I studied Christian Science and a Christian Science practitioner prayed for me. At one point I was unconscious for some time, but I remember waking up to see a small piece of paper that the practitioner had given to my family. It read, "Because of God's allness, man can realize his complete freedom." I was soon completely healed.

That was over forty years ago. I have led a full life since and have relied on God. I love Christian Science. It is so important to me.
