As many others have felt, I do not know what would...
As many others have felt, I do not know what would have become of me, had it not been for Christian Science. I drifted away from my study of Science a few times; but like the lost sheep, I was always brought back to the fold by the good Shepherd.
I had made so many mistakes in the past that I suffered with great guilt. But I was comforted by the following sentence in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy: "Emerge gently from matter into Spirit."
During those confused years I was troubled by fear of being in crowded places like theaters, concert halls, and even church. I was also afraid when standing in line for any reason. In both cases I would suddenly be overwhelmed by waves of terror. Finally, with the prayerful help and encouragement of a dear friend and Christian Science practitioner, I boldly confronted the fear as a powerless lie, since fear is no part of God's creation. As I did so, it vanished in a short time, never to return.
