You can stop smoking
"When I say that prayer really will put an end to the desire to smoke, I am speaking from experience."
[Original in Spanish]
For years I was enslaved by smoking before I became interested in Christian Science, and I resorted to all kinds of means to reinforce my willpower so I could stop it. But the more I tried to drop cigarettes, the more I smoked! I was in despair. Some nights when I was out of cigarettes, I would go out at any hour to get more of them. I rebelled, but I could not stop smoking! Finally one night I decided to pray for guidance on how to free myself from this habit. I turned to my Bible, looking for an answer. My eyes fell on Christ Jesus' statement "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; ... for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth." Matt. 7:7, 8 .
I prayed fervently, knowing that my heavenly Father would answer my plea, for His will for me was all good. I understood that God was omnipotent Soul and that nothing was impossible for Him. I prayed humbly, trusting Truth to destroy my desire to smoke. When I woke up the following morning, that desire was completely gone. I was free!
