A portrait of the Artist
Long before we knew Him well
He knew all of us:
He was master of form
and metaphor
always at work
on canvas of space
with palette of faultless
light.
At sunrise
birdrise
planet or sterling star-rise
(however the "beginning" so
stunning began)
His symphonies came
like waterfalls
cascading into place.
Architect
Author
the great Musician
Soul is engaged in the art
of Science
(in wonder and laughter and lifting up)
bringing out with painterly touch
what is and was
and shall forevermore
be done.
Let all creation ballet forth
fulfilling the laws of loveliness!
For God the source of any grace
is surely source of all:
if Lord of heaven and earth
then
Lord of rhythm and rhyme.
As poem must have Laureate
then surely in His theater
of life
our dance
must have
its Choreographer!
