One day several years ago I was having trouble swallowing food. I didn't have a sore throat, but I just couldn't swallow. This went on for about a week, and I felt weak and hungry. As I prayed and studied the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I read in Science and Health on page 427, "Nothing can interfere with the harmony of being nor end the existence of man in Science." I thought deeply about this truth and continued to pray. When I woke one morning, I knew immediately that I was healed—and I ate a big breakfast.
About three years ago I began to experience pain in my back. I had been doing a lot of work in my yard and garden, which I enjoy. I also had been baby-sitting a small child regularly. One evening the pain worsened considerably. For the next several days I studied and prayed. Two statements from science and health were especially helpful. They were "In Science, all being is eternal, spiritual, perfect, harmonious in every action" (p. 407) and "God rests in action" (p. 519).
As I studied these truths I realized that if all being is harmonious in every action, and if God rests in action, then I had to be spiritual reflection. I did not need to be overwhelmed by constant suggestions that I simply live in a material body that must become tired and painful.
