The Beacon

"Any organization, if it succeeds in its mission, must help people come into community with one another. It must be an instrument which can batter down the walls that separate us. It must ... align itself at its very deepest levels with those in need. It cannot become satisfied—it must recognize and communicate the urgency of these life situations.

"Community is what I feel in my heart when I'm with people I know and love. It is coming together to create something which is greater than the sum of its parts. Life without community is unconsolably empty, lonely. With it, it is as if one acted in a state of grace.

"Community is a common interest, common dream, common passion that brings people ... together from across the globe ... achieving a common understanding of and among ourselves....
