My mother learned about Christian Science when I was a young girl. She then enrolled me and my little brothers and sister in a Christian Science Sunday School. There I learned that God is Love and that He meets all our needs. This truth has guided me all my life.
Through the study and practice of Christian Science I have experienced many healings. One evening a few years ago I used a saucepan to boil some water. I did not notice that the flame of the fire reached the handle of the pan. When the water was boiling I seized the handle of the pan and burned my hand severely.
I and a friend who was with me immediately turned to the truths we learn in Christian Science. I realized that God is Love and omnipresent and that with Him no accidents can happen; that God governs man and that His harmonious creation cannot be disturbed by discord of any kind. I held to these truths, and my friend read to me for a time from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
