To me, the hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal are spiritual...
To me, the hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal are spiritual poetry, a form of deep reaching out to God. I always find the hymns inspiring.
One day while I was cooking, some boiling oil splashed into my eye. Unable to see and in great discomfort, I reached out to God in prayer. Hymn 64 flooded into my thinking. The words "From sense to Soul my pathway lies before me,/From mist and shadow into Truth's clear day" comforted me. I managed to call a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer, and the pain soon stopped. Shortly I could see again, but my vision was blurred. In a few days, however, my vision was normal; and a burn on my cheek was healed also.
