It was my privilege to grow up in a home where there was trust in God to meet every need. My parents are devoted Christian Scientists, and they have raised seven children with full reliance on God's healing and protecting power.
When I left home for a career, I found I had to work diligently to prove the spiritual truths I'd learned in childhood. Aided by prayer, I found employment and housing, and I completed graduate school.
A severe challenge came in 1976 when I was bedridden for some time with a breathing difficulty. I could not breathe deeply or stay out of bed for long. My parents cared for me and patiently supported my desire to rely on Christian Science for healing.
