In step with light
Not by chance,
not by planned
avoidance of the dark
does true conviction dawn
and make its mark
in waking consciousness
where deep root growth
so long unseen
digs its way to victory
and fellowship (more than
human brotherhood) in every
living thing
from depths
so paralleled
by like obedience
of upward searching prayer,
like tree and flower
making the best of soil's dark labyrinth
all-obedient to their universe.
So with heavenly naturalness
our own obedience
brings swift thaw
to all rigidity...
release of fresh new insight
escaped
from kinship with
the too-familiar or the stereotyped ...
True conviction is not of human whim
but comes from walking
in the light
in step with Him.
