The Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy states...
The Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy states (Art. VIII, Sect. 4): "It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to pray each day: 'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!"
At one point, though I tried to fulfill this duty, it remained only words to me. I wondered how I could make a difference to mankind with my feeble prayers. That has changed since a significant healing I experienced several years ago taught me the value of daily prayer for mankind.
For two years I was involved in an obsessive relationship with a man. The relationship ended with my being the victim of a brutal attack, producing severe facial and body lacerations and what appeared to be broken bones. At the time of the attack, the man drove me to the edge of town in his truck. He pulled a handgun out of the glove compartment and held it to my head, explaining that he was going to kill me. Then he said that he would run the truck over a cliff and we would die together.
