Nothing shall be impossible
We are not supermen or superwomen. But even in what seems a hopeless situation, we aren't powerless, either.
How often have you heard someone complaining about a condition or a situation only to find that when you ask what he or she plans to do about it, the answer is "Nothing, because there's nothing I can do about it."
I was once in a situation where I felt this way. I had been working for a large corporation for a number of years. I enjoyed excellent rapport with the department manager. It was understood that when he retired I would take his place. But the corporate structure and policies changed, and when he retired, a younger man was chosen as his replacement. To put it mildly, I was disturbed. Furthermore, the new man had an entirely different approach to running the office, so we were at odds from the beginning.
I considered changing jobs, and at times he seemed to indicate that he would help me make such a change. Still, I did not leave.
