Can this marriage be saved?
Divorce may sometimes seem easier than struggling to save a marriage. But healing is well worth the extra work.
A Woman I know felt that her marriage was in jeopardy. She and her husband had been married for over twenty years. They had two grown children. In the beginning they had been very happy. But as time went on, he became increasingly demanding and, it seemed to her, unreasonable.
He was intensely jealous, requiring that she account for every minute of the day. She felt dominated, imposed on, imprisoned in her own home. There seemed to be no reasoning with him. Attempts to talk about the problems just resulted in more resentment and oppression. She felt she had put up with this condition long enough and separation seemed the only way out.
As a Christian, however, she held the institution of marriage in very high regard. She knew how important Christ Jesus considered it. He said, "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Matt. 19:6.
