Six years ago I faced a very difficult situation in my life. The international corporation I worked for manufactured tools that serviced both the construction and petroleum industries. I was vice-president and general manager of construction products, and my division was having a profitable, successful year.

However, because of the severe decline in oil and gas-related products, the company's petroleum division was extremely unprofitable. There were tremendous losses, and the owners put the corporation up for sale. Even though I offered the owners a very fair price, my attempts to purchase the construction products division of the company were unsuccessful.

After much prayer and study in Christian Science, I made the decision to resign and start my own company. Shortly thereafter, before I had opened the doors to this new business, I was served with a lawsuit from my former employer. The suit included numerous false accusations and was for quite a large sum of money.
