Immediately following our oldest son's birth, we were told by the attending physician that both of his feet were curved inward at the ankles and corrective braces and/or surgery would be required before he would be able to walk properly. His mother and I turned to Christian Science for healing. We held steadfastly and lovingly to what God knew about the boy—that in his true nature as the spiritual likeness of God, he expressed the Father's perfection. The healing by Peter and John of the "man lame from his mother's womb" was most helpful and inspiring to me during this time (see Acts 3:1-8). We also had the prayerful help of two Christian Science practitioners at different times.

When our son was about two and a half, progress became very evident, and he began walking. The braces and surgery were never needed. This healing had a profound effect on those of us who witnessed it. Today our son is a strong, active young man who loves the outdoors. We have taken many long hikes together during the intervening years, sometimes walking, climbing, and even running several miles a day.

In the summer of 1987 I vacationed in the Canadian Northwest. Shortly after my arrival there, I became quite ill, was unable to eat, and was confined to bed. A practitioner was called for help through prayer, and she assured me that there was only one Mind, God. Since Mind does not know sickness, neither can His reflection, man.
