Christian Science came into my experience when, through the persuasion of my mother, who had become interested in Science, I was willing to accept the prayerful help of a Christian Science practitioner for a painful neck and throat disorder. I was healed within a half-hour. I had been asked to read a Sentinel, and as I was doing so I realized that what I was reading was true.

At this time I thought happiness primarily consisted of companionship leading to marriage, and when a decision had to be made whether to take the step, I was again willing to ask for prayerful help from a practitioner. The result was a very harmonious end to a somewhat unsettled relationship.

On another occasion a painful condition kept me from my employment for several days. Just before this I had allowed resentment to build because of certain family responsibilities. As I prayed, gratitude filled my thought, and I expressed appreciation for the loving assistance of several family members. At the same time the painful condition was healed. These experiences were steppingstones leading me to desire to learn more about Christian Science.
