My heartfelt thanks go to God for the divine laws Mrs. Eddy discovered and named Christian Science. When my husband and I were expecting our first child a few years ago, I learned more than I ever had about God's care for His children.

We engaged the services of a certified midwife to attend the birth. We planned to have the baby at home, and also arranged for a Christian Science nurse to be in attendance. During the time of the pregnancy, both my husband and I gained a deeper understanding of God's care and the spiritual recognition that truly God is our Father-Mother. The Christian Science practitioner who was praying with us also helped me to understand that, in a deeper sense, true birth is spiritual—an unfoldment, or bringing to light, of God's idea.

At one point a required blood test indicated that I was severely anemic. The midwife called me at work, concerned with the test results and wondering how I managed to even get out of bed in the morning. At that point I was working full time in my law practice and helping my husband in the evenings to renovate our house. The midwife informed us that if the anemia was not corrected, she would have to schedule us for a hospital delivery. However, through prayer in Christian Science this condition was completely healed.
