You are always companioned

Happiness isn't really something we get from another person. We get it from God.

In an age when we are surrounded with glowing pictures of romance from the advertising media and with conflicting advice about how to find satisfying companionship, it is easy to feel left out and confused. When, however, we look beyond human reasoning or advice from others, however well-intentioned, and turn in prayer to God, we are able to see ourselves and God's purpose for us from a fresh, spiritual perspective.

Current reports present destructive messages that are especially likely to make us feel anxious about finding companionship. Two of these messages are: If we haven't found a marriage partner by a certain age, we probably never will—with the underlying assumption that without a partner, we are lonely and undesirable. More subtle, but equally tenacious, is the suggestion that we need another person to make us whole and happy. Through prayer we can begin to understand the spiritual facts that enable us to free our lives from these false fears.

Whether one is already married, thinking about marriage, or is a single person seeking a more meaningful life, a better understanding of man's present spiritual completeness can uplift and enrich one's experience. Christian Science teaches that man is always the full representation of one all-inclusive God.
