We need not give in to old age!

The passage of years does not have to mean diminished faculties and decline. The vigor of spiritual selfhood is always ours to demonstrate.

A problem that widely afflicts the human race is that of diminishing energy, abilities, and health, as people grow older. Such material evidences seem to accumulate, and we may find ourselves steadily accepting deterioration with the passage of time. But we need not, if we are alert and work at it through prayer and spiritual growth!

Examples of what is possible can be seen in the lives of those who are so dedicated to the arts, the pursuit of knowledge, or some unselfish calling that age seems to have little effect on them. But only in Christian Science can such effects be understood and explained—and, furthermore, attained through revealed and logical spiritual means.

As evidence that Christian Science is not mere theory but something that we can prove in our own experience, my body was born at the turn of this century, but I no longer allow that material history to affect my convictions—and it is these that govern our bodies. It doesn't matter if we are of so-called advancing years. What matters is whether our thoughts of ourselves are truly "advancing"—advancing spiritually in demonstrations that God is our only true Life.
