The integrity of home

A spiritual understanding of home can help us keep both home and family intact.

What is home to you? Don't we ideally think of home as a place where we can find peace and harmony? No matter what challenges we've faced during the day, here we want to feel safe, secure. It's like a fortress that is supposed to keep out the strife and discord of the outside world.

Why is it that a home sometimes falls short of these lofty feelings? What is undermining the integrity of the home? Why do marriage and the family appear on such shaky ground? The incidence of divorce, broken homes, domestic violence, battered women, abused children, certainly tells us something is wrong.

Many people wonder if there is anything anyone can do to put a halt to the aggressive intrusions on the home and the increasing deterioration of the family. Yes, there is. We can pray and gain a deeper understanding of the true nature of home and its divine underpinnings.
