"Shew me a token for good"
(Psalms 86:17)
Submerged in troubles,
I thought I knew
What could lift me up.
(Perhaps you too have reasoned this way):
"Dear God, won't You please just send one sign
To glow in my darkness, and bring that ease of mind
Which can see brighter days in store?"
And then this answer (more whisper than roar)—
"Why expect to find light when you look in the mailbox
Or answer the phone or apply for a job?
Be steadfast in seeing the glory of God.
Peer into Soul's mirror and hear the word
That Abraham, Moses, and Jesus heard:
Man is the sign. Now shine!"
