Over twenty years ago a severe back injury left me prostrate. I was unable to move and had to be rolled off my bed onto another, in order that the bed could be made.

I had known of Christian Science for some years. However, I was a heavy smoker, and I had been unable to break free of the habit in order to join a branch church. The option of choosing reliance on Christian Science or surgery was presented to me. I am so glad that I opted for Science. A Christian Science practitioner was asked to pray for me. Not only was I completely healed of the back injury but the smoking habit left me and I was able to join the church!

Some years later I was healed of what is medically known as a strangulated hernia. (Years earlier, before I had become a Scientist, I had been operated on for this condition. The surgeon had told me that the trouble could recur.) A practitioner lovingly prayed for me, and I was soon entirely well.
