In 1956 my husband brought me a copy of The Herald of Christian Science, German Edition, which he had picked up at a trade fair. The spiritual ideas presented in this little magazine awakened in me a great desire to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

My husband obtained a copy, and in the days following we both spent every free moment reading the book—it presented such a revelation to us. The following Sunday we attended a branch church and enrolled our children in the Sunday School. The wonderful truths we learned from the continuing study of Christian Science brought many healings and blessings to our family.

A healing that has given me great encouragement occurred very soon after we had begun the study of Science. My father had been very ill for quite some time and had declined my suggestions that he turn to Christian Science for healing. One day, after he had suffered for many months from incessant hiccups, and many doctors had unsuccessfully tried to relieve him, he finally consented to my telephoning a Christian Science practitioner. He did not, however, believe that it would help.
