Even as a young child I was able to utilize what I had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School—that God loved me and could heal me. I woke one night with an earache. My parents were out for the evening, and my brothers were in another part of the house. I said to myself the prayer Mrs. Eddy wrote for children (Poems, p. 69):
Father-Mother God,
Loving me,—
Guard me when I sleep;
Guide my little feet
Up to Thee.
