I Can remember very early in my life questioning why things happened the way they did and receiving answers that I was not comfortable with. Dissatisfaction went on for many years and my problems grew. Finally I felt so unhappy and unable to cope with life and convinced that my family would be better off without me that I attempted suicide. (I had been under a doctor's care and had been taking several types of medication. I was suffering from arthritis, severe headaches, and disabling back problems, among other things.)
When the suicide attempt failed, I was left with much to think about. I could no longer run away from my mounting problems but had to face up to them. The very next day I was introduced to Christian Science by a friend who was aware of my situation.
I must admit that I did not turn wholeheartedly to Christian Science in an instant, but I did borrow the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. The first few chapters of the book answered some of the questions I had been struggling with since childhood.
