Two years ago I took some fifteen dress shirts (all with varying collar sizes) to a charity thrift store. While that may not seem like a reason for great rejoicing, to me it was.
About five years ago, while I was covering several states as a manufacturer's representative, I noticed some discomfort when I was wearing a buttoned collar and tie. A lump had appeared on my neck just below the collar line. I must admit that I did not pray specifically about this at that time. My wife and I simply moved the collar buttons over a quarter inch. My next step was to purchase shirts with larger collars. This went on for a number of months—moving buttons and buying shirts with larger collars.
One day, after I had arrived home from a four-day trip, I headed for the kitchen to make a peanut butter sandwich. I took a bite and tried to swallow but it wouldn't go down. By this time the lump was quite large, and for the first time I felt frightened.
