Some time ago I had severe pain in my leg. The condition was diagnosed by a registered nurse at my job as a very bad case of phlebitis. Medical treatment was strongly urged by several people at work who feared that the condition might be fatal.

Instead, I got in touch with a dedicated Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray for me. I spent several days getting rid of various fears, including the thought that I might never be able to work or even walk again. My thought became filled with love for God and what Christian Science shows of God, and many hours were spent reading Christian Science literature. I studied "the scientific statement of being" from our textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (see p. 468), and gained a clearer understanding that God, good, is the only power. I was soon completely healed.

After the healing I went on two separate two-week trips with the United States Naval Reserve. On both trips I walked for many miles without any difficulty.
