How can I listen?
As we listen for the Christ message, we discover more and more of our actual spiritual and good nature.
We have to be still in order to listen. The Psalmist sang of God's declaring, "Be still, and know that I am God." Ps. 46:10. A feeling of quietness can come over one just through contemplating this message. As we are still, as we quiet our thoughts and feelings and withdraw from turmoil and clamor, we can more readily turn our thoughts toward God's presence. As we achieve this needed stillness we learn to listen and to hear the voice of the Christ.
Although Christ, Truth, is always present in human consciousness, we must learn to listen attentively so that we can hear, realize the spiritual truth of ourselves and the world about us. In the midst of every human predicament, be it depression, disease, pain, loneliness, or fear, we can be still and listen for the specific spiritual fact needed to bring healing to the discordant condition.
I found out that even when I didn't know how to listen or what I was listening for, if I turned to God with all my heart, I heard His angel message clearly. Some years ago I was trained in the medical field. One night while I was working in a busy hospital I became very ill and was put to bed as a patient. Each day I seemed to grow worse and more frightened for my life.
